Spring Starts in the Fall
A draft of flower combinations for Early Spring
Do you find yourself simultaneously excited for the slowness of cooler weather, but already missing flowers? That’s me.
Lucky for me (and anyone interested in growing flowers) is that spring flowers are started, and established in the fall. Yes, I am have selected flowers to bloom in chorus for mother’s day, because the moms and adults who raise us absolutely deserve it.
There are many parts to this process that talk to each other. On one side, there’s the arranging pretty pictures on canva with a color wheel and palatte in mind. On another, there’s the growing strategy. Will these flowers bloom at the same time? Will these flowers survive my lowest winter temperatues? How many of each variety should I grow and do I have the space for that? And on yet another, can I sell these in a way that is sustainable for my business? I run some flower math (more on this in another post) to calculate the cost of producing each stem, and whether the cute bouquets I’ve created are priced reasonably for my target customers.
What does this mean for you? It means that my bouquet has been grown thoughtfully from the beginning. You are not being charged $$$ to offset the shipping costs for roses grown on another continent. You’re buying the outcome of my intention, my care of soil health, and and a bouquet you can’t get at the grocery store.
